The Economic slowdown's effect on Sales Hiring:

Companies are in more need of top sales talent than ever.

There's good news in the midst of the slowdown in some industries in America - the sales industry is staying strong.

According to the recently released 2008 Executive Job Market Intelligence Report by ExecuNet, sales came in second behind business development as a top growth area among all the 118 search firms that were included in the study. In addition, sales in the U.S. staffing industry reached an all-time high in 2007 ($91 billion) according to economic survey data released today by the American Staffing Association and have remained unchanged despite the economic slowdowns we are experiencing right now.

For companies, finding the best of the best is always a challenge, and it's even more so today because of the increased competition domestically and globally. Again, businesses are accelerating hiring initiatives for sales professionals, supplementing their efforts in a number of ways including turning to search firms to assist them with finding talent.

It's a good time to consider supplementing your own search with all the tools at your disposal, so if you are not working with a great recruiter at a reputable company it is a good time to consider doing so!
